Today was another great day at the library. Today we had the PVMS 7th graders come participate in our activities. They were split in 3 groups and each group got to rotate through an Extension program which included a snack, a STEM program where they built stands to hold basketballs, and a scavenger hunt where they had to use their i-Pad with our card catalog and find books, then fill out puzzles to help them find the secret message which allowed them to "escape" from the library. All of this was done in preparation (or maybe advertizement for our summer programs for the our tweens and teens). This summer we will be hosting "Teen Cuisine" on Monday afternoons where they will will learn nutrition and cook some awesome foods and end with a full meal preparation. We are doing Mr. Lemoncello's escape from the Library as our book club book and will be doing a couple of Escape rooms and activities dealing with the book. We are trying to up our "game" and spend a little more time reaching this age group.

As usual, we couldn't have done this without the help of a lot of folks. Thank you to Andi Richardson, middle school principal who allowed the students to enjoy this experience. Thanks to the 7th grade teachers and staff who helped out with all of the stuff, it was great to see some I worked with once agian and to meet new folks. Big thanks to Pam Dunlop for being my partner in planning, thanks so much for your support of our library. Thanks to La Cygne Library staff for your support. Thanks to Marais des Cygnes District K-State Research and Extension with Franny Eastwood, Kaitlin Paige Bruner, and Melanie Grote who put together the program from Extension. Also to Debi Doering, Master Food Volunteer who helped out with this. Thanks to Sandy Main who ran errands and did picture taking today. Thanks to Angel Waters and Jamie Curtis who helped with the scavenger hunt, so students have a little idea of how to use our library and solve puzzles.

It was another amazing program, thanks to everyone. The students were good and I loved seeing kids I knew when they were younger. Now I'm ready for a quiet weekend and a slower week at the library next week as we prepare to unveil all the plans for the 2024 "Adventure Begins at you Library" activities, starting May 29th with the Block Party for all interested Linn County area readers. See advertizement below and the full calendars will come out in the May newsletter. Thanks again for all the support and looking forward to seeing you all for our 2024 Summer Program.
