  1. I write historical thrillers which you can read about at my website (www.sambatybooks.com). Would you carry my books in your library system? Please disseminate this email to anyone you think appropriate, and please don’t hesitate to contact me if I can be of further service. My wife and I live in Albuquerque, NM.
I have quite a connection with the state of Kansas. My maternal grandfather was born in Independence, and he and his wife and children lived in Wichita for a number of years. My sister and I were born in Lawrence, and we lived in Lawrence, Wichita, and Chanute while we were growing up. Both of our parents graduated from KU. Additionally, my wife’s brother graduated from St. John’s in Salina.

  2. Gregg Clark Murray says:

I have a La Cygne Journal newspaper obit notice regarding the death of Clarrisa Jane (Murray) Mooney who was married to a James E Mooney. Here is the text: “Mrs Mooney, proprietress of the Mooney House, in this city, was stricken with paralysis on Wednesday evening and die on Friday morning. Her daughter, Mrs Ella Cooper of Harrisonville, MO arrived here Thursday evening. ” published Saturday 25 Aug 1877.

    My questions:
    1) What was the “Mooney House” ?
    2) Where was it located ?

I have visited various historical Kansas websites and tried Google but come up empty for answers.

I did not contact the La Cygne Historical Society as they are only open on weekend afternoons and thought perhaps an “investigative librarian” might have an answer to my questions.

I am located in Billings, Montana so my distance precludes me visiting you in person.

Historical info: Clarrisa Jane Murray was the 1st born of 13 children to Caleb Murray and Ameila Davis. Caleb is my Great, Great Grandfather. In addition to being an active genealogist, I find myself trying to construct the historical circumstances surrounding the life of an ancestor and events of their days. Thank You for your time and consideration. If there is a research fee involved, please advise and I will be happy to provide payment along with with a self stamped, self addressed return envelope.

  3. Do you have the cemetery records for Highland Cemetery in Parker, Kansas?

  4. Chris Bergstrom says:

I am trying to find the obituary for Edna Patterson Edmiston she died May 8 1965 in Pleasanton, Kansas.

Also do you have a index for marriage records? I am also trying to find when Charles Edman Smith married Patsy Lou Strong i believe they married in Nov 1955.
